Many farmers are now using TikTok and Instagram to show the public how food is grown and raised
Similar efforts are underway by other farmers, including Farmer Dom Northmore and Chloe Burke at Lane End Farm in Somerset. They use a drone to film their activities, which they then post on social media platforms like TikTok. The goal is not only to educate people about farming but also to share the passion and positivity associated with the profession.
Some farmers are using social media to raise awareness about issues affecting the agricultural sector, such as climate change and government policies. However, others prefer to focus on showcasing their daily activities in a more lighthearted and entertaining way.
Farmers like Robin Aird in Wiltshire will be participating in the BBC's Farmwatch project on August 7, where they will have their combine harvester streamed live across the country as they cut their corn. This initiative aims to provide an insight into farm life and offer viewers a chance to ask questions directly to farmers.
The trend of farmers using social media is not only about showcasing their work but also about building connections with people who are interested in where their food comes from.
