The watchdog is setting up a compensation scheme for motorists sold unlawful car finance deals.
Motorists have been warned by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to be vigilant against scammers posing as car finance lenders who are offering fake compensation. The FCA has set up a potential compensation scheme for eligible motorists, which could provide payouts of less than £950 per person. However, legitimate claims may not yet be available and the FCA has warned that scammers are taking advantage of this situation by making unsolicited phone calls and asking for personal details in exchange for non-existent compensation.
