Mon, 11 Aug 2025 Musk's Tesla applies to supply power to British homes

If approved by the energy watchdog Ofgem, it would allow the US firm to take on the UK's dominant suppliers.
Tesla, Elon Musk's electric vehicle and energy company, has submitted an application to become a licensed electricity supplier in the UK. If approved by Ofgem, the energy watchdog, Tesla would be able to sell electricity directly to households and businesses across England, Scotland, and Wales. This move would allow Tesla to compete with established energy companies in the UK market. The company already operates a similar service in Texas and has a significant customer base in the UK, having sold over 250,000 electric vehicles and tens of thousands of home storage batteries.
