Thu, 21 Aug 2025 Sony raises PlayStation 5 prices in US as tariff fears persist

The Japanese technology giant cited economic challenges as it raised prices for the consoles by around $50.

* The price of Sony PlayStation 5 consoles in the US will increase by around $50 (£37.16) from Thursday.
* All three PS5 console models (base and two Pro versions) will see a similar price hike.
* Prices: + Base model: $499.99 + Most expensive Pro version: $749.99
* Recommended retail prices for PS5 accessories will remain unchanged in the US.
* Sony has no other price changes to announce for other countries, including the UK and Europe where prices were raised earlier this year.
* The price increase is due to rising costs and a slowing video game market, as well as US President Donald Trump's tariffs on most of America's trading partners, including Japan.
