Martin Dickie, who founded the Ellon-based firm with James Watt in 2007, announced his decision in an email to staff.
Brewdog co-founder Martin Dickie has left the company due to personal reasons. He founded Brewdog with James Watt in 2007 and helped expand the business into spirits and cocktails. Dickie's decision comes after a difficult one, as he will be leaving an industry he loves deeply. The company has faced challenges including rising costs, increased regulation, and economic pressures, which led to the closure of 10 UK bars last month. Brewdog CEO James Taylor praised Dickie's contributions, calling them "immeasurable". Dickie is also the founder of Waterside Pharmaceuticals, a medicinal cannabis business that recently secured a Controlled Drugs Licence from the Home Office. He aims to become the UK market leader in medical cannabis production.
