Parents in Guernsey said they have had to adjust their working hours to afford childcare.
Some examples include:
* Euginia Nobrega, who works night shifts and one day at the weekend to afford childcare for her son.
* Celia Belo, who reduced her work hours during the summer holidays and picked up extra hours during term time and weekends.
* Claire Packman, who worked 30 hours a week but found it difficult to balance childcare and work in the summer.
There have also been reports of grandparents helping to cover childcare costs due to the financial burden on parents.
Economic Development President Sasha Kazantseva-Miller suggested that the government could look at tax-free allowances and holiday activity provider vouchers to support families during the summer holidays, which are "extremely challenging" for parents.
Kazantseva-Miller also highlighted the need for more support for children with additional needs during the summer holidays.
