The take-down of the site has been championed as a major victory for live sports broadcasters.
* The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) shut down Streameast, a website that streamed pirated live sports events.
* Over 1.6 billion people visited Streameast in the past year, accessing streams of Premier League football matches, Formula One races, and Major League Baseball games.
* ACE chairman Charles Rivkin called it a "resounding victory" in their fight against digital piracy.
* Two men were arrested in Egypt on suspicion of copyright infringement and authorities seized laptops, smartphones, cash, and credit cards.
* Streameast's domains will now redirect to an ACE webpage suggesting legal streaming options.
* Analysts say the shutdown may not be enough to stop live sports piracy, as high costs for legitimate streams continue to fuel illegal activity.
