Fri, 05 Sep 2025 Hundreds of South Koreans detained in massive ICE raid at Hyundai plant

Most of the 475 arrested were from South Korea, leading the country to express concern about the rights of those in custody.

* Almost 500 people arrested at Hyundai factory in Georgia by immigration authorities
* Majority of those detained (300) are Korean nationals
* US Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant due to allegations of "unlawful employment practices and other serious federal crimes"
* South Korea expressed "concern and regret" over the operation and urged the US government to respect the rights of its citizens
* Hyundai Motor Company said it was not aware that any detained workers were directly employed by them
* 475 people detained, with 300 being Korean nationals
* Detained individuals are being held at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Folkston, Georgia
