Tue, 09 Sep 2025 Jaguar Land Rover in daily talks with government as shutdown continues

The firm has been unable to operate its production lines for more than a week due to the shutdown.

* Jaguar Land Rover's IT systems were shut down after a cyber attack last week to prevent damage.
* The company has been unable to operate its production lines since, affecting plants in Halewood and Solihull (UK) and Wolverhampton (engine factory).
* Workers have been told to stay home and the factories are not expected to open until Thursday at the earliest.
* New car sales and servicing have been heavily disrupted due to the stoppage, which coincides with a peak period for selling cars following the release of new registration plates on 1 September.
* The National Cyber Security Centre has been working with JLR since last Wednesday, and the Information Commissioner's Office has also been notified.
* No comment could be made on the possible identity of the hackers or how long it will take to rectify the situation.
* The government is in close contact with JLR and is monitoring the situation closely.
* The attack has also had knock-on effects on JLR's supply chain, with key parts suppliers being left in an "even more complex situation".
