Fri, 19 Sep 2025 India regulator rejects US firm's fraud claims against Adani Group

Sebi began investigating the conglomerate in 2023, after Hindenburg Research accused the group of stock manipulation.
India's stock market regulator, Sebi, has cleared Gautam Adani and his companies of some allegations made by US short-seller Hindenburg Research, including stock manipulation and financial fraud. The investigation began in 2023 after Hindenburg published a report accusing the Adani Group of irregularities and using offshore shell companies to inflate share prices. Sebi dismissed these allegations, stating that there were no transactions between Adani's companies and related parties that needed to be disclosed, and that loans taken by the companies had been repaid before the investigation started. The regulator also cleared two charges against Adani firms, but 22 cases remain pending.
