Sun, 21 Sep 2025 Murdochs likely to be involved in US TikTok deal, Trump says

Oracle chairman Larry Ellison and Dell founder Michael Dell are also both involved, the president tells Fox News.

* Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan are expected to be part of a group trying to buy TikTok in the US
* They would join Oracle chairman Larry Ellison, Dell founder Michael Dell, and other investors in the proposed deal
* The sale is required by law because of concerns that Beijing could access the personal data of TikTok's 170m American users
* Trump says the group will "do a really good job" and raise a "tremendous amount" of money to buy the app
* Lachlan Murdoch recently took over Fox Corp and News Corp, his family's media empire
* Rupert Murdoch is chairman emeritus of News Corp, which includes The Wall Street Journal and Fox News
* Trump has drawn criticism from the Murdochs in the past, including a defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal
* A deal could be signed "in the coming days", according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt
* Oracle will lead on data and privacy for TikTok in the US, while the algorithm will also be controlled by America.
