More than a million households have no plan to pay off their energy debt, regulator Ofgem says.
- Energy debt and arrears in England, Wales, and Scotland have risen by £750m compared to last year
- Over 1 million households have no arrangement to repay their debt, a record high
- Average debt for those without a repayment plan is £1,716 per household
- Ofgem considering "debt matching" plans to clear debt more quickly
- Regulator studying how unrepayable debt should be covered
- Debt Relief Support Scheme proposed, funded through customers' bills
