Sun, 28 Sep 2025 Food bank appeals for help due to soaring demand

The leader of Boston Food Bank issues an appeal for non perishable items to help those in need.
Boston Food Bank's leader, Father David Stevenson, reports that demand for their services has remained high despite efforts to help those in need. The facility, based at St Botolph's Church, provides essential support to thousands of people, including nearly 1,000 children living in poverty. According to Fr Stevenson, the cost of heating homes is exacerbating the issue, leading to a surge in demand for food assistance. The food bank has seen record levels of need over the past year and is appealing for donations of non-perishable items and easy-to-make meals to help them meet this demand. One user of the food bank, Alina, now volunteers at the facility after receiving support herself last year. She emphasizes the importance of the service in providing basic necessities to those who struggle to afford them.
