Tue, 30 Sep 2025 Pfizer to offer cheaper drugs via Trump's website

Pfizer says prices for some drugs will be cut by up to 85% on the direct-to-consumer TrumpRx site.

* The Trump administration has announced a deal with Pfizer that will allow patients to buy prescription drugs at discounted prices on a new government-run website called TrumpRx.
* Under the agreement, some medicines will be sold at up to 85% lower prices than usual, and Pfizer will also lower prices for its medicines in the Medicaid program.
* The deal is part of Trump's effort to bring down prescription drug prices in the US by aligning them with lower prices abroad.
* Pfizer has agreed not to pay tariffs on its branded drugs and has committed to offer all its prescription medications to Medicaid at "most-favoured nations" prices.
* In exchange, Pfizer will invest an additional $70bn in US manufacturing, research, and development.
* The agreement is seen as a significant concession from the pharmaceutical industry, which had been resisting Trump's demands for lower prices.
* Critics have questioned whether the deal will actually bring down prices for American consumers, since insurance companies and other middlemen can still influence costs.
