The Unite union has criticised ministers and says the site could be "kept intact and operational".
* 125 employees at Lindsey Oil Refinery in North Lincolnshire will lose their jobs by the end of October
* Only 255 people will remain at the site, which was taken over by the official receiver after its owner Prax Group went into administration
* The Unite union blames the government for not providing support to keep the refinery operational and claims that two bids were received to buy and operate the site as a going concern
* Energy Minister Michael Shanks says the official receiver is assessing potential bids for the future of the refinery and its assets, but will give employees "as much notice as possible" while concluding the sales process
* Affected employees will be supported via redundancy payments service, with the majority of the workforce expected to remain beyond October
* The conduct of Prax Group's directors remains under investigation by the Insolvency Service.
