Wed, 01 Oct 2025 Half of UK adults now regularly use mobile payments

Regular mobile payments surged across different age groups last year, new banking data suggests.
Half of UK adults now regularly use mobile payments.
* 50% of adults used mobile payments at least once a month in 2024, up from 34% in 2023.
* Mobile payment users include: + 78% of 16-24-year-olds + 59% of 35-44-year-olds (up from 38% the previous year) + 19% of those aged 65 and over
* Debit cards remain the most popular way to pay, but physical contactless card use has decreased.
* Cash usage has continued to decline, with nearly 50 million people still using ATMs.
