Thu, 02 Oct 2025 Funding shortage forces food bank to make changes

Didcot Emergency Foodbank was launched in 2009 but is running out of reserves.

* Didcot Emergency Foodbank has seen a reduction in donations and now has reserves of around £10,000.
* Despite this, they still expect to support 6,000 clients this year.
* To manage the reduced funding, the food bank is changing its services to: + Provide support once a week for six weeks (previously twice a week). + Introduce a longer six-month gap between referrals (previously three months).
* The food bank receives 75% of its donations in cash and 25% in physical food, compared to 25% in cash and 75% in food five years ago.
* The reduction in funding means the food bank can no longer provide support to families on low incomes who are just about coping or not quite coping.
