The Asian fast-fashion giant will open concessions in six department stores in the country.
- Shein, an Asian fast-fashion giant, has chosen France as the location for its first permanent physical outlets.
- The company will occupy concessions in 6 department stores across France: Paris, Dijon, Reims, Grenoble, Angers, and Limoges.
- This marks a significant move for Shein, which has previously only operated temporary pop-up stores and no permanent physical shops.
- The new outlets are being opened through a partnership with Societe des Grands Magasins (SGM), the company that runs BHV Marais and Galeries Lafayette department stores.
- The outlets will create an estimated 200 jobs in France, according to Shein.
- This move comes after the French Senate adopted a bill in June to regulate the fast-fashion industry, which includes companies like Shein.
- Shein has faced criticism over its environmental impact and working conditions in its supply chain.
