The drinks giant said this week that the attack had a major impact on its domestic operations.
Japan is facing a major shortage of Asahi products, including beer and tea, due to a cyber-attack that has crippled the company's operations in the country. The attack has disabled the ordering and delivery system at most of Asahi's factories, leaving retailers like FamilyMart and Lawson with limited stock or none at all. According to FamilyMart, Asahi's sales have been temporarily suspended "with no prospect of resumption" and its Famimaru range of bottled teas is expected to be in short supply. Lawson has also warned customers that some Asahi products may be out of stock from today and plans to stock up on alternatives. Life Cooperation, a Japanese supermarket chain, has also issued a warning about potential shortages of Asahi products. The shortage affects Japan's largest brewer, which generates half of its total sales from the country.
