Tue, 07 Oct 2025 More holidaymakers using AI to plan trips

Asking family and friends for recommendations and using guidebooks remain popular ways to plan a holiday, according to a new report from APTA.

* 8% of travellers used AI when planning or booking their trips, up from 4% last year
* Younger holidaymakers were more likely to use AI when planning their trips
* Established methods such as general internet searches and asking family and friends still outpaced AI usage
* The number of people taking a holiday has climbed back towards pre-pandemic levels, with 87% of respondents having taken a holiday in the past year (up from 84% last year)
* Spain remained the most popular travel destination abroad, chosen by just under a third of travellers
* Travel demand remains resilient despite global news events, with over 9/10 respondents saying conflicts and turmoil would not put them off travelling
