Sat, 11 Oct 2025 Windows 10 users urged to prepare for Microsoft pulling support

Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10, which could make users vulnerable - here's how to get Windows 11.

* On October 14, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10, making devices vulnerable to attacks.
* Around 21 million people in the UK and over 1.4 billion devices worldwide use Windows 10.
* Users have two options: upgrade to Windows 11 (free for eligible PCs) or sign up for Extended Security Updates (ESU) for $30 (£22).
* ESU will provide security updates until October 2026 but does not include technical support or other software updates.
* Not all devices can be upgraded to Windows 11, and those that cannot may require a new device.
* Microsoft is pushing users to upgrade to Windows 11 despite some concerns about user data collection and account requirements.
