Thu, 16 Oct 2025 British Gas owner among firms fined for underpaying staff

A list of nearly 500 employers fined more than £10m for failing to pay the minimum wage is released.

* British Gas's parent company Centrica was fined £167,815 for underpaying 356 workers.
* Euro Garages (EG Group) was fined more than £824,000 for underpaying 3,317 staff.
* Holland & Barrett was fined over £153,000 for failing to pay the minimum wage to 2,551 workers.
* Total fines for all companies on the list exceeded £10m and affected nearly 42,000 workers who were repaid over £6m.
