Beijing has avoided any sharp downturn but faces economic challenges including US tariffs.

* China's economic growth slowed to 4.8% in Q3, its weakest pace in a year
* The slowdown was due to problems in the property market and trade tensions with the US
* Exports rose by 8.4% in September, but imports also increased
* Industrial output grew by 6.5% last month, driven by sectors such as 3D-printing and electric vehicles
* The service sector also showed growth, but the property sector continued to struggle
* Real estate investment fell 13.9% in the year up to September
* Beijing has set a goal of around 5% economic growth this year, and is expected to discuss its economic blueprint at a gathering of top leaders this week
