* Prof Alan Woodward said: "What this episode has highlighted is just how interdependent our infrastructure is."
* Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudflare, said: "Everyone has a bad day, today Amazon had a bad day."
* Cori Crider, head of the Future of Technology Institute, said: "An essential part of the economy has fallen to pieces."
* Computer science expert Ken Birman says some responsibility rests with companies that use AWS for not building protection systems into their applications.
* The outage could lead to court cases, such as Delta Airlines' ongoing dispute with CrowdStrike over losses from a previous outage.
