US President Donald Trump abruptly ends all trade negotiations with Canada due to an advert featuring former US President Ronald Reagan criticizing tariffs, which he claims was designed to interfere with the upcoming Supreme Court decision on his global tariffs. The Ontario government had sponsored a $75m campaign using excerpts from Reagan's 1987 radio address, stating that tariffs ultimately harm Americans. Trump responded by terminating all trade negotiations with Canada and imposing a 35% levy on imports, allowing exemptions for goods under the USMCA agreement.
