Mon, 27 Oct 2025 Warning after Temu brush rips out child's hair

Norfolk Trading Standards says the £4 cleaning brush has now been withdrawn from sale in the UK.
A mother from Norwich claims that an electric cleaning brush sold on the online marketplace Temu caused her three-year-old daughter's hair to be ripped out, resulting in a significant bald patch. The mother, Amy, purchased the £4 brush to make household chores easier but reported it after the incident occurred when her daughter accidentally picked up the brush and its cord was yanked back, pulling her hair into the device. Temu has since removed the product from sale in the UK following a report by Norfolk Trading Standards. The company claims that the safety of their customers is their top priority and they are in contact with Amy to offer assistance. However, Amy disputes this claim, stating that she was offered a £1,500 PayPal settlement but refused it as she wants to prevent similar incidents from happening to other children. She also expressed concern that Temu does not seem to care about the safety of people. Norfolk Trading Standards have added the product to the Product Safety Database, which is used by local authorities to report unsafe products. The agency claims that Temu's UK representative voluntarily withdrew the product for review in line with legal requirements.
