If you're struggling to get on top of your money, here are four ways to help you manage it better.
1. Identify your spending habits: Look at your bank statements to see when and why you spend money, including during times of stress or boredom.
2. Understand your financial behavior: Recognize how your upbringing and past experiences (such as a negative attitude towards maths) may be influencing your current relationship with money.
3. Tackle your finances head-on: Set aside time each week to review your bank account and outgoings, even if it's just an hour a week.
4. Take control of your finances gradually: Start by addressing one issue at a time, such as learning about investing or asking for a pay rise at work.
Additional tips:
* Consider setting up a "freedom fund" to give you options and security in difficult situations
* Be patient with yourself and don't be too hard on yourself if you're just starting out.
