Tue, 04 Nov 2025 Move to reduce fuel duty increase fails

Policy and Resources proposed to increase fuel duty by 4.3%.
Policy and Resources President Lindsay de Sausmarez argued that the budget already supports islanders struggling with cost of living through a £600 increase in personal income tax allowances. Deputy Jayne Ozanne claimed that the current system of fuel tax is unfair, particularly for those who cannot afford electric vehicles, and that increasing their tax burden is "deeply irresponsible".
