Wed, 05 Nov 2025 Nearly all drivers say headlights are too bright

The study, commissioned by the Department for Transport, was completed by Berkshire's TRL.

* 97% of UK drivers surveyed reported being regularly or sometimes dazzled by oncoming vehicles
* 96% said most or some headlights are too bright
* 33% have stopped driving or driving less at night due to lights
* 22% want to drive less at night but have no choice
* Study suggests LED and whiter headlamps may be linked to glare
* Government to review car design and headlamp regulations in response to the findings
