Wed, 12 Nov 2025 Ryanair scraps printed boarding passes to go fully digital

The airline is only accepting digital boarding passes from Wednesday.
The change aims to speed up travel and lower costs, with 90% of Ryanair's 206 million annual passengers already using digital boarding passes. However, some campaign groups have expressed concerns that the move may disadvantage people without access to internet or mobile devices. 5% of UK residents do not have home internet access, according to a recent report by Ofcom, and many older people find digital systems challenging to use. Companies like Ryanair are still required to offer alternative ways for customers to book, check in, and show tickets. Those who fail to check in online ahead of their flight will be charged an airport fee of up to £55. However, passengers with smart phones can receive a free paper boarding pass at the airport if they have checked in online but cannot access it. The change is set to apply across Ryanair's entire operation, except for Morocco where a paper boarding pass is still required. Check-in desks will remain available at airports despite the shift towards digital boarding passes.
