It is not illegal currently to own the gadgets but the government has promised to ban them.
* Keyless car theft gadgets, used by criminals to steal vehicles without breaking in, are being sold online for over £20,000.
* A new law is imminent that will make it illegal to possess or share these devices, which can lead to up to 5 years in prison.
* Experts say the ban is unlikely to stop organized gangs who loan out the gadgets and steal cars to order, with prices ranging from €10,000 to €25,000 (around £8,500-£22,000).
* Over 100,000 vehicles were stolen in the UK in the last 12 months, with between 60% and 70% being keyless models.
* The gadgets can be disguised as Bluetooth speakers or military-grade technology that blocks car tracker signals.
* Police struggle to combat the crime as the devices are passed around the country by organized crime groups, who make huge sums of money from stealing cars.
