The widely respected Cornwall Insight forecasts the typical household energy bill from will fall to £1,733 in the new year.
* Household energy bills are expected to decrease by £22 per year, or 1%, from £1,755 to £1,733 between January and March.
* This change is due to a new energy price cap set by Ofgem every three months for around 22 million households in England, Wales, and Scotland.
* However, bills are expected to rise again by £75 in April when the next price cap is set, driven by rising charges associated with Britain's transition to net zero.
* The shift from high wholesale prices to network maintenance costs will be the main driver of higher energy bills.
* Experts warn that while this transition brings long-term stability and independence, it comes at an upfront cost that households are currently paying through their bills.
