Wed, 19 Nov 2025 Hotel adverts banned over misleadingly cheap rooms

Ads for Hilton, Travelodge, Booking.com and Accor are banned by the Advertising Standards Authority.

* Four major hotel and travel firms have had their adverts banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) due to misleading minimum prices: + Hilton hotel group: two adverts banned + Travelodge: two adverts banned + Booking.com: one advert banned + Accor: one advert banned
* The ASA found that only a small number of rooms were actually available at the promoted price, and that the adverts overstated the deals.
* All four firms have been ordered to change their advertising practices: + Hilton must ensure future price claims reflect deals available for "a significant proportion of rooms" + Travelodge must ensure deals are available "across a range of dates" + Booking.com and Accor must improve their clarity on availability
* The ASA also found that Butlins had breached its code by changing the deadline of a sale it promoted via email, putting pressure on customers to book.
