Strong sales at artificial intelligence chip giant Nvidia did little to quell investor worries.

* US stock indexes: + S&P 500 down 1.5% + Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.8% + Nasdaq lost more than 2%
* Asian markets: + Japan's Nikkei 225 down by nearly 2% + South Korea's Kospi was down by 3.2% + Hong Kong's Hang Seng opened around 2% lower
* Nvidia shares fell by over 3% in New York
* Softbank plunged by more than 8% in Asia
* Samsung was more than 4% lower in Seoul
* Bitcoin price fell below $90,000 to its lowest since April
