Mon, 24 Nov 2025 It will be toughest winter yet, says food charity

FareShare Sussex & Surrey says it provides food for roughly 28,500 people every week.

* FareShare Sussex & Surrey helps around 28,500 people every week with food parcels and hot meals.
* The charity predicts this winter could be its toughest yet due to "incredibly high" food and energy costs.
* FareShare is trying to raise £50,000 between December 2-9, which will help provide 200,000 meals through a fund-matching scheme with The Big Give.
* Unusually late harvests have led to less winter produce, putting further strain on surplus food supplies.
* Without FareShare's support, local organisations such as Shopwise in Woking would struggle to operate due to lack of fresh fruit and vegetables.
* FareShare rescues and redistributes surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, manufacturers and farms to 248 local organisations across Surrey and Sussex.
