The streaming giant gives users a summary of their listening habits every year.
To access your personalized summary, update your Spotify app to the latest version and navigate to the "Wrapped" section. The app will present a carousel of slides with insights into your favorite songs, top genres, and most-played podcasts. Your statistics are calculated by logging all of your listening data from January 1st to November 15th, with any song played for 30 seconds or more counted towards your "favourite song" rankings. Offline listening is also included if you reconnect to the internet. Spotify generates a playlist of your Top 100 songs, based on play count rather than total time listened. Your "top artist" will be decided by the total number of songs played, not just the time spent listening. Spotify releases charts of the most-played artists overall, with Taylor Swift being last year's winner. The service also uses your listening habits to encourage longer sessions and introduce you to new music. You can access Spotify Wrapped directly from the app, and it's available for both free and premium users. Other streaming services offer similar features, including Apple Music's "Replay" and YouTube's "Recap", which categorizes your interests and personality types based on your watch history.
