People were spending without telling their partners on beauty products, gambling, and cryptocurrencies.

* Over half (57%) of British adults in relationships have hidden secret spending from their partners, with men averaging £2,545 and women £1,769.
* The most common secret purchases were: + Clothing: 20% of men and 35% of women + Beauty products: 25% of women + Vices (cigarettes, alcohol): 19% of men + Gambling: more likely to be hidden by men + Gifts to friends and family: more likely to be hidden by men
* Gen Z adults are the most secretive with their spending, averaging £4,303 per year.
* Those over 55 are the least secretive, averaging £384 in secret spending.
* Experts warn that secret spending can lead to financial friction in relationships and make it difficult to budget or plan for long-term goals.
