Thu, 04 Dec 2025 Liverpool Street named UK's busiest station again

Some 98 million passengers entered and exited the station until the end of March, the regulator says.

* London Liverpool Street has been named Britain's busiest station for the third consecutive year, with 98 million passengers entering and exiting in the year up to March.
* The top 10 most used stations were all in London, with Waterloo, Paddington, and Tottenham Court Road following behind Liverpool Street.
* Birmingham New Street was the busiest outside of London, with 36.6 million passengers, while Elton and Orston in Nottinghamshire was the quietest station with just 68 entries and exits.
* Four of the top 10 stations are served by Britain's newest railway, the Elizabeth line, which opened in 2022.
* The most used station outside of London is Manchester Piccadilly (27.4m), followed by Leeds (27.3m).
* Glasgow Central was the busiest station in Scotland with 25.3 million users, while Cardiff Central was the busiest in Wales with 12.5 million entries and exits.
* The quietest station, Elton and Orston, has only one East Midlands Railway train per day serving it on weekdays.
