Jamie Oliver is relaunching his casual dining brand in the UK backed by the people behind Prezzo.
Jamie Oliver's restaurant chain Jamie's Italian will reopen in central London next year, six years after it went into administration. The new site in Leicester Square is backed by investors behind Prezzo, and plans are underway to expand the brand further. At its peak, there were over 40 Jamie's Italian sites across the UK, but the company struggled with rapid expansion and changing market conditions, leading to its closure in 2019. However, more than 30 international restaurants survived. Oliver has overseen the menu for the new site and recognizes that restarting the brand will be a challenge. He believes it's an opportunity to deliver excitement, surprise, and delight to the mid-market sector. The return of Jamie's Italian is part of a franchise agreement between Oliver and Brava Hospitality Group, which runs Prezzo. Unlike last time, Oliver is not investing his own money in the venture, having been left with £80m in debts after the chain's collapse.
