A charity is ramping up its operation in the run up to Christmas to help tackle food poverty.
* FareShare South West provided over 500,000 meals across Devon and Cornwall this year
* Over 800 tonnes of produce passed through the charity's warehouse in Estover, Plymouth
* The UK saw a 37.2% increase in food prices between August 2020 and August 2025
* One-in-four children are in poverty in Devon and Cornwall
* A community co-op set up by Cooperation Town in Plymouth allows members to receive discounted food for £3 per week, saving £15.75 per bag (£18.75 worth of food)
* The government has increased the National Minimum Wage and taken measures to ease poverty, including removing energy bills from April and recommitting to the triple lock on state pensions
