The move comes as several companies, including Amazon and IBM, are competing to develop powerful quantum computers. Experts believe that giving UK researchers access to Willow will "accelerate discovery" and potentially lead to breakthroughs in fields such as chemistry, medicine, and physics. The UK government has committed £670m to support the development of quantum technology, which is expected to contribute £11 billion to the economy by 2045.
