Christian Turner, a career diplomat with nearly 30 years' experience in Whitehall and the Foreign Office, has been named as the new UK ambassador to the US. The appointment was formally made by King Charles, but requires official approval from the US government before it can take effect. Turner will succeed Peter Mandelson, who was sacked after his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein came to light. Turner expressed his honor at being nominated for the role and stated that he looks forward to working with President Trump's administration to strengthen the transatlantic relationship.
