Sun, 21 Dec 2025 Charity welcomes living wage rise in January

The new rate will come into effect at the beginning of January, Caritas Jersey says.
The living wage was chosen as the minimum required due to rising costs such as rental increases and utility bills. Mr Lynch notes that poverty is increasing and food bank usage has risen significantly from 195 families in February 2022 to over 640 now. He also highlights the "worryingly high" differential between the minimum wage and living wage, a concern he wants Assembly members to consider when debating the budget this week and looking ahead to the general election next June.
