Mon, 29 Dec 2025 Boss of Everyman cinema chain departs weeks after profit warning

The upmarket cinema chain faces a leadership shake-up weeks after it cut its revenue forecasts.
Alex Scrimgeour, CEO of Everyman Cinema chain, has abruptly resigned just three weeks after the company issued a warning that trading had been weaker than expected. He will be replaced on an interim basis by non-executive director Farah Golant. The sudden departure comes as the company's shares have plummeted 20% following a revised revenue and earnings forecast. Everyman Media Group runs 49 luxury cinema venues across the UK, known for their high-end amenities such as reclining seats and food menus. Scrimgeour had been CEO since January 2021, taking over from French restaurant chain Cote Brasserie where he served as head since 2015. The company's recent trading update revealed revenues of £114.5m for 2025, down from previous forecasts, with underlying earnings of at least £16.8m.
