HS2 CEO Mark Wild advises the government that the 2029/2033 opening schedule is not achievable.
The high-speed railway project, plagued by challenges, has been going through a comprehensive reset since earlier this year after HS2 CEO Mark Wild acknowledged construction had been "harder than thought" and needed a review of the project's cost and schedule.
The company has made significant progress throughout 2025, with the project now at an advanced stage of its reset. However, in a new update, Mr Wild confirmed to the government that the original opening schedule is unachievable.
