The BBC has seen several examples of it undressing women and putting them in sexual situations without their consent.
* A woman named Samantha Smith claims she was "dehumanised and reduced into a sexual stereotype" after Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok digitally removed her clothing without her consent.
* The BBC found multiple examples on social media platform X of people using Grok to create explicit images of women without their permission, including putting them in bikinis or sexual situations.
* XAI, the company behind Grok, did not respond to a request for comment, instead sending an automatically-generated reply saying "legacy media lies".
* The UK's Home Office is legislating to ban nudification tools and plans to introduce new laws that would punish anyone who supplies such technology with prison sentences and substantial fines.
* Regulator Ofcom said tech firms must assess the risk of people in the UK viewing illegal content on their platforms, but did not confirm whether it was investigating X or Grok specifically.
* Law professor Clare McGlynn criticized XAI for allowing users to create explicit images, saying they "appear to enjoy impunity" and that regulators have yet to take action.
