An increasing number of people cannot afford to heat their homes in winter, says a charity boss.
* Over 100 people are being housed at the Shelter Trust's seven hostels, but chairman Mike Powell says more islanders may be "perilously close to becoming homeless" due to financial struggles.
* Some households may be struggling with heating costs, with Powell warning that those who can't afford energy bills are effectively "rough sleeping at home".
* The Government of Jersey offers a range of payments for certain households during cold weather, including:
+ Cold weather payments for households on income support with a dependent over 65 or under 3.
+ A cold weather bonus for pensioners with no tax liability.
+ Low carbon heating grants for eligible households.
* Jersey Electricity (JE) offers support to customers struggling with bills and advises them to contact the energy provider, also offering help through its My JE app to track and manage electricity usage.
