The sessions are an opportunity for people to connect but also for people who do not wish to chat.
The Douglas City Library on the Isle of Man has launched "Winter Warmer" sessions, a weekly coffee morning initiative to bring people together and combat loneliness. Held every Friday from 9am to midday, the events are part of the Warm Welcome campaign, which aims to provide warm spaces across the British Isles. Librarian Jan McCartney explained that libraries are no longer just about books, but community hubs where everyone is welcome. She added that the sessions aim to help people connect with each other and provide a social space for those who may be isolated or struggling with the cold weather in January.
