Wed, 14 Jan 2026 Reeves doesn't rule out wider business rates support across hospitality

Chancellor says support for pubs is on its way and leaves the door open for further tweaks to business rates changes
The Chancellor had earlier hinted at resisting calls for more support for the wider hospitality sector, but said she was "particularly concerned" about the impact of business rates on pubs. However, trade body Hospitality UK's Kate Nicholls welcomed the door being left open for non-pub businesses to also receive support. A £4.3bn cap has been placed on rate rises over three years, which will see pub rate bills rise by 76% and hotel rate bills rise by 115%.
