Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds says the waits faced by retired civil servants are unacceptable.
* Up to £10,000 available to help with financial hardship
* Around 8,500 people have experienced issues with pension payments since Capita took over in December
* Company inherited backlog of 86,000 cases and apologised for the problems caused
* Most urgent cases, such as those experiencing bereavement or ill-health, will be prioritised by the end of February
* Additional staff brought in to help clear the backlog, bringing total workforce to over 650
* Former departments advised to provide support to those who retired within the last 12 months, while those who left more than 12 months ago should contact Capita
